Time Period of our Team Work:

Thursday, February 13th, 2014 to May 23rd, 2014

You will receive your research guidelines after your countries are assigned. 






On May 23rd, 2014
All Day AFFAIR!  Parents/Grandparents Welcome!
Students from CIS will tour your country and you will be the EXPERT on your country!



As a member of Model UN, you will work with your group to:


  • Create a tri-fold board display representing his or her country.
  • Create an art project representing his or her country
  • Participate in a school-wide cultural fair dressed like a person from their researched country.

YOU WILL NEED:  
  • two or three partners - no more than three 
  • commitment
  • motivation
  • permission slip signed by parent for all team members 
  • tri-fold board 
  • time to work at home or weekends outide of school
  • one day a week from your IE time period 
  • time management skills
  • discipline,
  • imagination for art project and design of tri-fold, access to online research, 
  • tools like markers, scissors, etc.

Due Dates for each part of the project:

FEBRUARY 19th, 2013 - Permission slips need turned in to Social Studies Teachers. Ms Muhl will assign all countries after teachers send  the slips.  (all group members stapled together - with your social studies teacher and Team Name on each page----for instance if you are in Ms. Muhl's class you will need - Team Pacific and MUHL room 201 for your SS teacher.)


About Due Dates!  See below!
On the due date of a part of the project, your social studies teachers will check off your progress.  Do NOT get behind!


When your group has all permission slips in and you are qualified by your SS teacher and myself, then you will recieve your information guidelines packet along with the due dates recorded in it.  Use this packet to collect your data and research.  You will recieve a data packet for each member of your team ---- don't lose them!


Part One  
Geographic Data: by the end of the week - March 7th, 2014

Part Two  
Historical Data:  Due March 21st
                   Art Proposal Due March 21st
                   Art Project is done outside of school

Part Three
Political Data:  by the end of the week- Due April 11th

Part Four  
Social Data:  by the end of the week:  Due April 18th

Part Five
Economic Data:  Due April 28th

Also, DUE on April 28th:
Native Dress Proposal Due - and needs to be completed at home outside of school

All parts need to be ready by the day of presentation, no excuses!  The date of this year's model UN is:  May 23rd, 2014!

  4. Hi Ms. Muhl this is Colin Hitch from Mrs. Schmitt's homeroom. I have two questions: 1) I lost my permission slip and need a new one. Can I pick a new one up from your room?
    2)Do we NEED to turn in our permission slip ONLY on Feb. 5, or can we turn in early? Thanks!

    Do we ever have to come to school like on the weekends or like come for meetings after school is over?????

  6. Dear Colin.. I think we got it all handled and Ryan we will NOt MEET ON WEEKENDS or after school. We will work during IE once a week and the rest is done independently with your group outside of school. This is completely enrichment for you, but fun to investigate and present something at the end of your hard work!

  10. Hi this is Jordan Barnhart from Mrs. Storms class. I was wondering, my country Brazil is really big with soccer, if on the day we present i could just where a Brazilian soccer jersey with brazilian soccer shorts?

    also thank you for setting this up! I would never be able to ask you at school.

    1. I think if you and your partner are wearing Brazil soccer colors and are authentic, it would be a fitting costume! I am all about soccer! So are the people of Brazil!! Mr. Bodjanac went to Brazil, ask him what he thinks about your idea! :) Come and see me and let me know what you discussed. :)
